View performance and capacity dashboard for a specific storage system

The performance and capacity dashboard for a specific storage system provides a view of key performance and capacity indicators.

About this task

To view the performance view:

Steps

  1. From the main menu, click Unisphere for PowerMax.
  2. Select a storage system.
The home dashboard view for the selected storage system is displayed. The performance and capacity dashboard is displayed by default.
  3. View the capacity and performance data for the selected storage system. The following items are displayed:
    • A Capacity panel displaying the following:
Subscribed Capacity A graphical representation of the subscribed capacity of the system (used = blue and free = gray) and the percentage used
Usable Capacity A graphical representation of the usable capacity of the system (used = blue and free = gray) and the percentage used.
Subscribed Usable Capacity The percentage of subscribed usable capacity
Overall Efficiency The overall efficiency ratio
Trend A panel displaying trends over time in usable capacity and subscribed capacity (in terabytes).
    • A Performance panel displaying the following graphs over a four hour, one week, or two-week period:
      • Host IOs/sec in terms of read and write operations over time.
      • Latency in terms of read and write operations over time.
      • Throughput in terms of read and write operations over time.

To zoom in to a timeframe, select a start time and drag the mouse to the end time. To zoom into a point in time, click the point in time. To return to the default zoom level, click RESET.

The three graphs are synchronized, so when hovering over a graph, the popup is displayed for each of the three graphs giving a readout of Read and Write (and Total, if appropriate) data at the particular time selected in the graph. Zooming in to a particular timeframe on one graph automatically displays the other graphs at the same zoom level.

To the right of each graph, a list of the top five active storage groups for that graph is displayed. Zooming in to a timeframe on a graph automatically updates all the top five storage groups lists for that timeframe. Clicking a particular point in time on one graph automatically updates all the top five storage group lists for that particular time.

To go directly to a storage group dashboard for a storage group that is listed in any of the top five storage group lists, click the storage group name.

To hide the lists of the top five active storage groups, in Settings icon > Preferences > Performance, set Top 5 Most Active Storage Groups to Hide.
